Food is a vital source for all human beings. All the peoples of the world feel the need to feed themselves at every moment. This leads us to attest that food is the most important thing in human existence. Such is the case of the Abouré, a people living in the south of Côte d’Ivoire (West Africa). Since the dawn of time, the Abouré have developed their own unique methods of food production and processing. Their food system is highly original, as they have been able to feed themselves to this day by taming nature and relying on the bounty of their natural environment. Their economic organization revolved essentially around activities such as gathering, fishing, hunting and, above all, farming. Thanks to their creative genius, they were able to transform the products from the aforementioned activities for their daily diet. Thus, in Abouré country, we find foods such as Attiéké, Atoukpou, Placali, koutoukou, etc., which are transformed according to traditional methods that have evolved over time.
