Fashion bloggers vs. fashion journalists

＂We love as much coverage of fashion as possible. But I think what’s interesting to us with this new phenomenon that ＂everyone’s a fashion editor, everyone’s a fashion writer＂ is that all of that actually helps Vogue, because we have access and the understanding of fashion that, forgive me, but maybe some bloggers and some of the newcomers to this world have a little bit less experience of.＂ With this statement, Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of American Vogue, questioned the understanding of fashion and the experience in the fashion industry of many fashion bloggers. In her article ’The Circus of Fashion’, fashion journalist Suzy Menkes also criticised the peacocking of bloggers in front of the tents at Fashion Week, the free-riding mentality of many bloggers and their lost critical independence. Why are fashion authorities such as Anna Wintour and Suzy Menkes attacking fashion bloggers? Media representatives suspect that their reactions are triggered by a feeling of threat from fashion bloggers. An empirical analysis will be used to assess the mutual perception of fashion bloggers and fashion journalists in Germany.
