In a bomb devastated London, which is finally starting to heal from the terrible wounds of the Second World War, Juliet Ashton, a young writer searching for literary inspiration, receives a letter from a stranger named Dawsey Adams. Dawsey is a member of the book club The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, created under difficult circumstances during the battle, a rarity in the times of German occupation. When Juliet accepts the invitation to visit Guernsey from these eccentric readers she understands that they and their incredible literary society will become characters in her new novel, and her life will take a turn forever.
