Hadhrami Sufism revisted. A history of the Banū ʿAlawīs of Hadhrawt, Yemen, this study charts the evolution of their spiritual tradition from its early premodern origins, exploring the spiritual life of this Arabian hinterland, while overturning our academic knowledge of its scholarly culture through a careful examination of its contributions to the intellectual legacy of philosphical Sufism.
