It comes from a faith. 1983 ASIA is co-founded by Su Su (Tianjin, China) and YAO (Malaysia) in Shenzhen China. After years of experience of handling projects, we made several brands also achieve ourselves. However, after the joy come again and again, it left us endless thought. We grew up in Asia which was measured by western culture. In this case, the identity of Asian is getting vague. We used to let the treasure of us go, but we have to learn how to reunite the world. The cultural convergence left us regret for globalization and internationalization.“Sometimes, traditional Asian culture is a fetter of western.”We are inspired astonishingly that only tracing to the source can solve the inner contradiction. Based on Asian and designer, we tried to break the bound of concepts and used art design to show our experience and achievement through studying Asian culture. Turning invisible culture into glamorous Asian visual product is the lost-for-long happiness that we reach for in the world.
What is your “main idea”while producing a piece/ series of work? Have it ever changed before?
During the creation, we have been holding an open attitude and keep learning to contact different new things. It has been, and still is. The only difference is, with the transformation of role, we feel that designers should take more social responsibilities.
What is the best thing in your country? (likes features or culture) Have it ever changed before?
We are from China and Malaysia respectively, we often to see ourselves as "Asian". We believe that with the times change, cultural collision may happen by the interaction and blend, which may produce some new things, which are really interest. These effects was unconscious and subtle, with the change of age and role, we are very enjoy and willing to share this feeling.
Share the story of you creating your pieces. How did you encounter with creativity/art/design/ illustration? And what happened? Have you ever been stranded at a bottleneck? And how did you overcome?
Keep curiosity, keep learning, and keep the revere of the culture!
How do you draw the inspiration?
Travel and reading. Even if revisit the old haunt, different role, age and mood will bring different sensory experience. Let's achieve the era crossing through reading!
What is the craziest or coolest thing you have ever done?
Run away from home.
What are the things you want to do most these days? Have you started to set up new goals or breakthroughs for next period?
We like to be Asian, and we do hope to spend a long time o studying Asian's culture to precipitate ourselves. We also look forward to use the sincerity to give back to society.

What is your “main idea”while producing a piece/ series of work? Have it ever changed before?
Work hard living is the when inspirations come to me. I take everything I face seriously, working hard to get everything done; when speaking of design, the same philosophy of mine can be applied the same way, and that’s when inspirations come to me. I am thinking about designing while I am living for the most of the time! Even in the most detailed way. Thus, I am so devoted because I have so much passion for designing, and I am responsible for it. How problem can be solved by designing is determined by how to make the most use of the resources.
And don’t take designing as a money earning profession. If so, I suggest that he or she to consider changing career. Doing design is not about money making, it’s about the mental satisfaction! Such of mine belief have never been changed.
Share the story of you creating your pieces.
Never stop learning; I take such attitude all the way doing design.
How do you draw the inspiration?
The experiences I’ve learned from nature, the experiences I’ve accumulated through living and working; these experiences are the resources where my inspirations come from.
Share good books/music/movies/places with us.
I appreciate what is good only. Everyone is fond of good pieces. Yet, whether the piece is good or bad, is determined by personal taste and aesthetics.
What is the craziest or coolest thing you have ever done?
There was once I fled away and contact no one for a month.
What are the things you want to do most these days? Have you started to set up new goals or breakthroughs for next period?
I want to do publishing. I hope that I can get involved, be associated with other creative works of various categories.

His works have been included in the Ninth APD Pacific Design Yearbook, Tenth APD Pacific Design Yearbook.
What is your “main idea”while producing a piece/ series of work? Have it ever changed before?
I think, a creation of a person is the same thing as a painter paints, a musician sings. Through creating, they express their emotions, to express their anger against the society, thus their voices can be heard, and such voices can resonant from within those who heard; connections are built, therefore the public awareness can be raised.
What is the best thing in your country? (likes features or culture) Have it ever influence your creation?
Words! It’s the most fascinating things of my country. Chinese word, character holds a long history. As the history goes, and over thousands of years, 7 types of writing scripts are formed. There are - Oracle bone script, Bronze inscriptions, Seal script, Clerical script, Semi- cursive script, Cursive script and Regular script. As you can see, the style of the character can be innovated through out time. Lot of works of mine was inspired by the Chinese character. It has a great influence on me.
How do you draw the inspiration?
My inspirations come from reading, and some opinions on the social issues. Quantity reading empowers you to gain knowledge from various fields, And the knowledge you accumulated can turns out to be your energy while creating.
What is the craziest or coolest thing you have ever done?
The coolest thing I’ve ever done is to follow my heart, and never regret doing what I love. My major in college wasn’t design studies. But I audited design studies’ class for four years, because I have passion for it. And that’s the coolest thing I’ve ever done.

What is your “main idea”while producing a piece/ series of work? Have it ever changed before?
I am more following my mind for design-related creative ideas. Everyone's creations would have great relationship with their own personality or environment. I am contradicting myself, and coincidently live in China where has complex cultural background, there are many cultural factors to affect you. I have never fix my creating idea, it always keep changing, and absorb from the West to the East, this is the motion that always stimulate me to go forward, because you never know what your next works will be.
How do you draw the inspiration?
First thing is that inspiration is something cannot be obtained as you wish, an excellent designer's level is normal, and a good work is non-normal, the designers who were trained by class create their works through their training skill and experience, so do I. Inspiration is usually like a utopian offerings, sometimes it would be excited by a kind of mind that is non-normal. It may be a vague memory of your marks, or a transcendent at the moment, it sounds very iffy, a little charm speculative philosophy of religion, but it is precisely that this feeling will make you excited, then use your experience and skills to capture it.
What is the craziest or coolest thing you have ever done?
I think that doing my favorite thing: design, is the craziest thing, it is cool. I don't like to do business design, I'd like to do art-related design generally. You always feel that your design has the shadow of yours, try use you’re feeling to express the theme, because you will find it is more close to the humanity, and it will purify your mind.
What are the things you want to do most these days? Have you started to set up new goals or breakthroughs for next period?
I have been wanted to learn philosophy recently, not the kind of class. When discover many questions you will feel confuse about that. I think our designers are not a craftsman; we should be a storyteller, even if the "Waiting For Godot", it is a humanity-inspired design, too. So the next thing I want to do is enjoy the life without design, to feel the human and society, or talk to my friends.

What is your “main idea”while producing a piece/ series of work? Have it ever changed before?
When you work on your creation, you should fully understand the background of the item beforehand. And then, followed by the purpose of creating such item, and the ideas you’d like to tell. Creating is not something you do without contemplating or something you do just based on your experiences. I’ve always considered creating as “old elements, new combinations”. And the creator is more like a kid playing with toy blocks; you need not just the imagination but also the right materials to build a toy house.
What is the best thing in your country? (likes features or culture) Have it ever influence your createon?
I’ve been studying on the “Possibilities of the Chinese characters” for some time. I think it’s a great treasury of China, for it contains so many things in it. Of course, China has lots of other great things, such as: martial arts, Chinese painting, etc. I am planning to spend some years to study one of them. These traditions influence the style of my creation unexpectedly. The earliest Chinese characters it selves, were image. And it selves also include ideogram and other classifications, and there are so many things which can be applied as a concept into the design project. There are many projects I am currently working on is based on the Chinese characters as the concept.
How do you draw the inspiration?
I’ve said that I do not trust the thing “inspiration” previously. I always start a project with information gathering. I don’t draw “creativity” with my personal experiences. Not even in agricultural products, food or traveling, these three fields. So, in order to come up with a new idea, the most reliable method, I’d say, is to start working from the fundamental elements.
Share good books/music/movies/places with us.
I like all the books to do with designing. I recommend
What are the things you want to do most these days? Have you started to set up new goals or breakthroughs for next period?
Yes! I’ve always wanted to do so many things each day, and all of them are related to design and living. I hope the studio I started that everything can be on the right track within a few years, and I can balance working between living, and enjoying my life.
