Most of Nigerian citizens are not informed about the National Value System which is partly constructed with the use of The Pledge, the new and old Anthems. Thus out of sheer arrogance or ignorance or negligence, they constantly break the promises they make to the nation while most political and other leaders consistently violate the oaths they take before they assume offices.
Most citizens, especially youths do not realize that their failures to fulfill The Pledge often result into breaking part of either Criminal or Civil Law. Consequently, malpractices that range from cheating during the examinations to electoral fraud seem to have grown into bacteria that kill patriotic spirit of the nation. Invariably, the same bacteria also give births to vices and crimes which are the causes of economic and political catastrophes.
