Someone once said to me at one of our conferences that ’love is a feeling you feel when you feel something you have never felt before towards a particular person.’ He sounded so sure about the idea that love is simply nothing but a weird feeling; yet, nothing could be further from the truth. Just like this sincerely mistaken guy, the world we live in today redefines things, especially the ones God has already given meaning to. Without a doubt, this generation freely removes boundaries and takes out ancient landmarks (Proverbs 30:11-14). For ages, the world has been replacing God’s definitions with its own and many have fallen and are falling victim to this misrepresentation to their hurt. In some cases, the misrepresentation comes with far-reaching consequences. In these instances, it will only take God’s special grace for anyone to ever unearth the original intent of God. Love is one of such subjects. Although the Bible is very clear on the subject of love and how to identify one when it shows up, it is becoming increasingly difficult for many to identify or test what true love is in their own individual lives and in the lives of many that profess love to them.
