The Impact of Organizational Ethical Climate on Organizational Commitment and Job Performance: An Ethical Economic Analysis of Japanese-Funded Manufac

This study seeks to evaluate the impact of organizational ethical climate on the organizational commitment and job performance of Japanese-funded manufacturing enterprises (JFMEs) in China using empirical analysis and discussion, and includes a review of related research into economic ethics as well as a quantitative analysis of the various types of organizational ethical climates typically found in JFMEs operating in China. While prior studies have approached the topic from an ethical, psychological, philosophical and/or sociological perspective, none have specifically analyzed organizational ethical climate and its effect on organizational commitment and job performance under these conditions. Nor has an analysis of the relationship between organizational ethical climate, organizational commitment, and job performance ever been approached from the perspective of economic ethics. This study illustrates the feasibility of researching organizational ethics from an economic perspective, while laying out a theoretical basis for exploring the philosophy of economics from the perspective of economic ethics.

RYU Keikoh is a Professor of Business Ethics and Management philosophy at Ritsumeikan University’ Business School, which located at Kyoto Japan. Prof. Ryu is also the director of the Japan Society for Business Ethics and an Advisory Committee Member at the Stanford Program on International and Cross-Cultural Education, Stanford University. With six academic degrees from the United States, China and Japan, involving research area in political scientists, economists and philosophy, and having completed three doctoral degree programs Peking University’s Graduate School of Education, Tsinghua University’s Graduate School of Philosophy and Waseda University’s Graduate School of Political Science and Economics, his research spans the areas of political science, economic sociology, and public management. Currently, his research has primarily dealt with cross-cultural research methodology in Ethical Economics and Management philosophy.

In 2010, Waseda University Press published Prof. Ryu’s book titled ＂Creating Public Value,＂ which was also selected as a winner of the 2010 Emerald/EFMD Outstanding Doctoral Research Awards. Recently, Fudan University Press published his ＂Redefining Business-society Relationship for Japanese Corporations in China,＂ also, Oxford University Press published his ＂Globalization and Economic Nationalism in Asia＂. Prof. Ryu’s research also has published in Journal of International Business, Corporate Communication Studies, and other top scholarly academic journals.
