Prof. Dr. Esther Gnanamalar Sarojini Daniel is attached to the Department of Mathematics and Science Education, Faculty of Education, University of Malaya for the past twenty years. Previous to this she was a secondary school biology teacher for 16 years. Esther obtained her first degree - Bachelor of Science with Education from the University of Malaya and started her career as a science teacher in 1979. She has taught in Sekolah Datuk Abdul Razak, Seremban, The Malay College Kuala Kangsar and Sekolah Tuanku Abdul Rahman Ipoh, till 1994. She joined the Faculty of Education, University of Malaya in 1995. She completed her Masters in Science Education and PhD in USM. She is 100% a product of Malaysian science Education and her passion is education - teaching and working with students. Esther is a professor of science education (biology) as well as environmental education. In addition, her expertise also lies in the area of Integrating Technology in Teaching. Further to this she has researched into the area of cognition, the teaching - learning process and the teaching - learning environment among secondary students as well as among pre-service science education teacher trainees. The research includes e-learning as well as m-learning approaches. The most recent research sees her putting together an e-learning teaching-learning approach for science teachers and students to augment knowledge sharing, knowledge creation and knowledge construction. In addition she is also at present involved in the implementation and evaluation of environmental education together with WWF Malaysia. She also serves on the academic advisory panels of several institutions. She is also the President of the Learning Sciences Society of Selangor and the Executive Director of the Asian Association of Biology Education. Esther has presented papers at national and international conferences and has publications in local and international journals.
