Professor Yuning Cheng is also honored as the design master of Jiangsu Province. He is currently the dean of Landscape Architecture Department of the School of Architecture in Southeast University, the director of the Jiangsu Urban-Rural and Landscape Digital Engineering Technology Center, the director of the Institute of Landscape Planning and Design, the leader of the landscape architecture discipline, and the deputy director of the Academic Committee of the School of Architecture in Southeast University. He is an editorial board member of "Chinese Landscape Architecture", "Landscape Architecture", and other journals.
Yuning Cheng has been engaged in the fields of landscape architecture planning and design, landscape architecture design, landscape garden history and theory, digital landscape, and technology for 40 years. He has presided over a number of national, provincial, and ministerial scientific research projects. His published books include "Modern Landscape Design Theory and Methods", "Wetland Park Design", "Site Landscape-Selected Works of Chengyu Ning Garden", "History of Chinese Gardens", "Building Gardens and Mountains", etc. He launched the Ministry of Education’s fine video open class "Frontiers of Landscape Architecture"; edited "Landscape Architecture Design", "Modern Landscape Architecture Theory and Practice" series (5 published monographs), and 3 proceedings of "Digital Landscape" series, "Jiangsu Landscape Architecture Art" (Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of Jiangsu Province), and published more than 70 academic papers.
He has presided over the completion of 2 general projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China. He is working on a key project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China. He presided over the completion of the project "Urban Road Sponge System Construction and Key Technologies" and won the first prize of China Science and Technology Progress Award in 2018. He presided over the completion of more than 100 projects of landscape architecture and landscape architecture design. His planning and design works have won more than 30 national, ministerial, and provincial excellent design awards.
