Professor Dr. Suleman Tahir was born on 1971 in Pakistan. He graduated (BSc Chemical Engineering) from the Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Punjab, Pakistan, in 1996. He worked with polymer industry (PET, manufacturing) and chloro alkali industry from 1996 to 1999 as chemical engineer (shift engineer). He completed MS in Chemical Engineering 2000 and joined academia at NFC Institute of Engineering and Research. He won the national scholarship for PhD and did his PhD and post doc from the Technical University of Graz, Austria, 2008-2011. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Suleman Tahir joins KFUEIT from his previous assignment as Dean of Engineering Faculty, University of Gujrat, and brings with him vast experience of 27 years of public and private sectors. While serving in industry and academia, he has developed institutions like NFC Faisalabad and University of Gujrat. Besides being a post doc and PhD in Chemical Engineering from the Graz University of Technology, Austria, he is a renowned national and international speaker. He is an author of various books and book chapters approved by HEC and several national and international research articles. His enriched experience in developmental projects includes the completion of 15 construction projects at the University of Gujrat worth PKR 2 billion, 3 community training projects worth PKR 35 million under the umbrella of NAVTTC, and 5 research projects worth PKR 28 million from HEC. He is a strong advocate of academia and industry linkage with proven and tangible gains for academia from the Chamber of Commerce Sialkot and other stakeholders of society. He is an innovative team leader and motivator with strong team-oriented management skills that promote team’s personal development and productivity with KPIs.
Dr. Muhammad Bilal Tahir has PhD in Physics with specialization in Energy and Environmental Applications, Material Science and Nanotechnology, Environmental Engineering, Photocatalysis, etc. He is currently working as Head of Department of Physics and Head of Center of Material Science and Nanotechnology of KFUEIT, RYK, and Additional Director of ORIC, KFUEIT, RYK Pakistan. He has published more than 500 papers on the topics of enhanced oil recovery (EOR), renewable energy, alternative fuels, waste-to-energy, and catalytic and resource recovery. He has delivered over 65 oral/invited talks to various national and international forums. His work is cited over 10000 times in the peer-review press with a total impact factor of over 3000 and H-index of 51. Dr. Tahir is serving as guest editor in several special issues Current Analytical Chemistry, Frontiers in Energy Research, and numerous others. He has completed many national and international-funded research projects. He has been actively involved in community services and consultation to various international organizations for providing sustainable solutions for energy and waste-related issues.
Dr. Sagir has over 15 years of research experience in the field of oil and gas, enhanced oil recovery, surfactants, and photocatalysis. During this period, he has been working in Malaysia and Pakistan. He is currently working as an assistant professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Gujrat, and is involved in four different research projects as PI, Co-PI, and collaborator. He has also been part of a number of research projects completed in various capacities. Dr. Sagir has supervised a number of MPhil students. He has published 150 journal papers in international peer-reviewed journals (ISI Indexed) with high impact factors and over 40 papers/abstracts in international conferences. He has a total impact factor of 300+, and his research work has been cited over 2500 times in peer-reviewed press.
Prof. Dr. Abdullah Mohamed Asiri
Prof. Abdullah M. Asiri is the Head of the Chemistry Department at King Abdulaziz University since October 2009 and he is the founder and the Director of the Center of Excellence for Advanced Materials Research (CEAMR) since 2010 till now. He is a Professor of Organic Photochemistry.
He graduated from King Abdulaziz University (KAU) with a BSc in Chemistry in 1990 and a PhD from University of Wales, College of Cardiff, UK in 1995. He was promoted to a Professor in 2004. His research interest covers color chemistry, synthesis of novel photochromic, thermochromic systems, synthesis of novel coloring matters and dyeing of textiles, Materials Chemistry, Nanochemistry and nanotechnology Polymers and plastics.
Prof. Asiri is the principal supervisors of more than 17Msc and one two PhD thesis; He is the main Author of ten books in different chemistry disciplines. He Published more than 400 research Papers in international Journals. Prof. Asiri is the Editor-in-Chief of King Abdulaziz University Journal of Science. A major achievement of Prof. Asiri is the discovery of tribochromic compounds, a class of compounds which change from slightly or colorless to deep colored when subjected to small pressure or when grind. This discovery was introduced to the scientific community as a new terminology Published by IUPAC in 2000. This discovery was awarded a patent from European Patent office and from UK patent and some other patents office in Europe. Prof. Asiri involved in many committees at the KAU level and also on the national level, he took a major role in the advanced materials committee working for KACST to identify the National plan for science and technology in 2007.
Prof. Asiri played a major role in advancing the chemistry education and research in KAU, he has been awarded the best Researchers from KAU for the past four years. He also awarded the Young Scientist award from the Saudi Chemical society in 2009, and also the first prize for the distinction in science from the Saudi chemical society in 2012. He also received a recognition certificate from the American Chemical society (Gulf region Chapter) for the advancement of chemical science in the Kingdome. Also he received a scopus certificate for the most Publishing Scientist in Saudi Arabia in chemistry in 2008.
He is also a member of the Editorial Board of Pigments and Resin Technology (UK), Organic Chemistry in Sight (New Zealand), Designed Monomers & Polymers and Journal of Single Molecule Research. He is the Vice- President of Saudi Chemical Society (Western Province Branch).
