2008臺北美術獎

臺北市是座兼具傳統文化與現代科技的多元城市，既擁有世界級的摩登大樓，又擁有百年的歷史古蹟，同時展現旺盛的國際競爭力，與豐厚的文化底蘊。臺北市政府積極發展在地文化特色，並連結國際文化新貌，鼓勵民眾主動參與藝文活動，希冀建立包容多元、自由開放的快樂城市。 臺北市立美術館為國內重要的藝術展覽中心，同時也是向國際展示台灣藝術文化的重要櫥窗，每年提供將近三十檔風格多元且內容精采的展覽活動，並專業協助藝術家落實心中的展出藍圖，與藝術家培養出相互學習成長的協同關係。而每年舉辦的「臺北美術獎」，在美術館提供正式的展覽空間與完整的展覽協助下，成為國內藝術家初試啼聲，展現個人當代藝術觀點的絕佳管道。 2008臺北美術獎競爭依舊激烈，共徵得386件作品，28件初選入圍作品除了平面繪畫作品外，還有符應時代潮流的數位創作，此屆更有令人驚嘆的綜合媒材裝置，提供觀眾視覺、聽覺與觸覺上多重感官的體驗，展現藝術家對外在環境與個人生活的獨特見解。藝術之可貴在於想像力的無限延伸，有形的媒材或許是有限的，但是憑藉藝術家的巧思轉換，日常風景可以是繪畫的絕佳素材，生活的感動可以是創作的源頭，而最普通的居家廢料也可以轉化為動人的藝術創作。 在嶄新的21世紀，臺北市除了持續在政治民主、經濟自由的基礎上繼續前進，更樂意以文化藝術妝點臺北，鼓勵天馬行空的創作構想，欣見跨領域藝術的蓬勃發展，藉以創造繁花盛開、充滿活力的臺北城，讓臺北成為「無處不藝術」的文化新都。
Taipei City is a diverse city that combines traditional culture and modern technology. Featuring both world-class modern buildings and historic sites of more than 100 years, it is at once highly competitive internationally and rich in cultural heritage. The Taipei City Government actively develops local cultural characteristics and connects with new global cultural phenomena, encouraging the public to participate in cultural and arts activities, in order to create a tolerant, diversified, free and open city. The Taipei Fine Arts Museum is an important venue of art exhibition in Taiwan, as well as a major window for displaying Taiwanese art and culture to the world. Each year, it presents nearly 30 exhibitions with works of different styles and outstanding content, and assists artists professionally in realizing their exhibition projects, developing a collaborative and mutually beneficial relationship with artists. With the museum providing official exhibition space and comprehensive assistance, the annual Taipei Arts Awards have become an excellent channel for local artists to make their debut and present their own contemporary artistic ideas. The 2008 Taipei Arts Awards continue to be highly competitive. Out of 386 submissions, 28 have been selected in the first round. Apart from two-dimensional paintings, they also include trendy digital works. This year, there are also stunning mixed media installations, providing viewers with visual, audio as well as tactile experience and showcasing the artists’ unique thoughts on the external environment and their personal life. The precious thing about art is the unbounded imagination. The physical media may be limited, but with the artist’s ingenuity, everyday life can become an excellent subject of painting, stirred emotions can be the source of creativity, and banal household garbage can be transformed into moving artworks. In the 21st century, apart from continuing to advance on the basis of democracy and economic freedom, we are prepared to adorn Taipei with arts and culture, promoting creative ideas and the development of multi-disciplinary arts. By creating a flourishing and lively city, we will restyle Taipei as the new cultural capital with “art seen everywhere”.
