「世外桃源－龐畢度中心收藏展」為本館與法國龐畢度中心共同合辦（Arcadie. Dans les Collections du Centre Pompidou ）。法國龐畢度中心所收藏的現代及當代藝術作品，無論在質與量上，皆屬全球美術館之翹楚。綜觀台灣早期西洋美術的發展脈絡，與法國現代藝術發展有密不可分的血緣關係。藉著呈現西方的名作真蹟，可檢視並研究台灣美術創作風格來源、所受的影響與發展脈絡。為了呼應亞洲文化，本展策展人龐畢度中心旗下國立現代藝術美術館副館長迪迪耶．歐登傑先生（Didier Ottenger），特別以「世外桃源」為策展主題，以其豐富的藝術學養與策展經驗，精心挑選其館藏極為重要的精彩作品來臺展出，為臺灣觀眾帶來難能可貴的現代藝術體驗。本展的策展理念受古羅馬文學與詩歌的啟發，呼應法國古典主義畫家普桑筆下〈阿卡迪亞牧人〉對於生之喜悅與死亡的詮釋，以此延伸出包括：黃金年代、信使、阿卡迪亞、重現阿卡迪亞、豐盈、虛榮、享樂、和諧、夜、草地上的午餐等十個子題。透過不同主題進一步闡釋畫面中豐饒和諧的感受、狂歡式的感官刺激，以及對於世事無常、浮華虛幻的辯證與反思。展覽透過嚴謹的論述與提綱挈領的主題分類，呈現出現代藝術豐沛的創造力與深刻的內涵，帶領國內觀眾欣賞現代藝術菁華，同時亦達到藝術文化交流的意義與目的。
The exhibition «Arcadie- Dans les Collections du Centre Pompidou » is jointly organized by the Taipei Fine Arts Museum and the Centre Pompidou. In terms of quality and quantity, the modern and contemporary art collections of the Centre Pompidou are among the finest and largest in the world. The early development of western art in Taiwan was inextricably linked with the history of French modern art. By viewing the original works of western masterpieces, we can examine and study the stylistic sources of Taiwanese art, as well as the influences it came under and its lines of development. To echo Asian culture, Mr Didier Ottenger, assistant curator (?) of the Musée National d’Art Moderne of the Centre Pompidou and curator of this exhibition, has chosen “arcadia” as the theme. Drawing on his extensive knowledge of art and curatorial experience, he has selected highlights of his museum’s collection for presentation in Taiwan, offering the Taiwanese public an invaluable opportunity to experience modern art. The curatorial concept is inspired by ancient Roman literature and poetry. Based on the French Classical painter Nicolas Poussin’s interpretation of the pleasures of life and death in "The Arcadian Shepherds", ten sub-headings were evolved, including The Golden Age, Messengers, Arcadia, Arcadia Rediscovered, Abundance, Vanities, Sensual Delight, Harmony, Nights and Breakfast on the Grass. These themes highlight the images of abundance and harmony, the ecstatic sensual pleasures, as well as the reflections on the vicissitudes and vanity of life in the paintings. Through a rigorous discourse and the division into different themes, the exhibition shows the rich creativity and profound messages of modern art. Not only does it afford local viewers the chance to see gems of modern art, it also achieves the purpose of artistic and cultural exchange.
