作者簡介：
泰戈爾 (Rabindranath Tagore, 1861-1941)
出生於加爾各答顯貴家族，天資聰穎，8歲起開始寫詩，12歲創作劇本，青少年時代即不斷發表詩作，後赴英倫深造。
泰戈爾十分喜愛旅遊，對印度獨立運動採同情態度，曾寫下許多針砭英國殖民統治的文章，並熱中於教育與哲學探究，闡揚東方精神文明。
他一生創作豐碩，含括詩、小說、戲劇、散文等，於1913年發表著名的《新月集》英譯本，文中充分展現崇尚大自然之情懷，同年以英譯的《吉檀迦利》榮獲諾貝爾文學獎，1916年再發表《漂鳥集》英譯本。其詩作深深打動全世界，包括愛爾蘭詩人葉慈對其推崇備至，孟加拉和印度國歌皆採用其詩。
