經過多年努力不懈，終於誕生了這本融匯了很多英文單字的教學用書。本書非常適合準備TOEIC、TOEFL、GRE等各種英文考試的各位讀者。20年前，我在鐘路講解字首-字根-字尾法時，這套方法還是「超神奇單字背誦法」。對大多數人來說，字首-字根-字尾法還很陌生，而且還沒有形成體系。但現在，對很多英文學習者來說，通過字首-字根-字尾法學習單字已經成為一種常識。不僅出版了很多關於學習詞源的書，而且還有很多學生通過學習字首-字根-字尾法提高了英文單字能力。

但目前市面上很多關於詞源學習的書和書中介紹的學習方法都只是學習英文單字的皮毛，並未涉及單字根的來源，所以這些英文字彙書籍不是必備的工具書，只是順應潮流的英文單字書籍而已。我希望通過本書，能夠解答大家對於單字學習的疑惑，並再次強調學習字首-字根-字尾的必要性。因此，本書與其他英文字彙書不同，是我傾注了大量心血，整理了最多的單字來源和單字的一本字彙大全。因此，讀者可以藉由本書以最佳方式學習字首-字根-字尾法。

本書共分為4章。第1章由7節構成，整理了盎格魯-撒克遜字首、拉丁語字首、希臘語字首和表示數位的字首。第2章是字根篇，共40節，按照羅馬字母順序排序，方便查找。首先介紹一些重要的字根，然後連結一些補充字根。每節約介紹12~15個字根。學習40節後，讀者即可學到33,000個單字。

第3章是字尾篇，重點講解詞性變化時發生的各種問題。本章按照目錄形式進行整理，便於查找。第4章是索引篇，分為單字索引和詞源索引。單字索引按照羅馬字母順序進行排序，如同字典一樣，方便學習者隨時查找。而詞源索引使用Robert Smith方式，所有詞源按照順序排列，並標注了在教材中出現的頁碼，也可以作為自學英文的學習教材。

再次強調：由於學習字首-字根-字尾法必須以字根為中心，所以將詞源的基本意思和字根聯繫在一起時，必須注意因此產生的詞形關係和重音的位置變化。而且，必須觀察字首在各單字裡詞性上的基本形式和意思相通與連接的功能。希望各位讀者能使用本書作為學習英文單字的指南。並向為本書的出版付出辛勤勞動的各位編輯和朋友表示誠摯的謝意。
