In the context of todays business environment and organizational dynamics employees’ contribution is widely recognized as an important determinant of any organization’s success. Employees form the intellectual drivers of the physical resources by determining the effectiveness, efficiency, and quality of their output. This is achieved through innovation, ingenuity and continuous improvement of business processes both in production and in the service industry.
It is for this reason that organizations envisage the need to maximize the utilization of the human resource capital through tapping into the knowledge of their employees. Employee performance is therefore a key factor in predicting and determining organizational growth and success. Furthermore, companies are grappling with the difficulty of retaining their best talents in this highly competitive marketplace for labor and this has sparked debate on ways of garnering organizational commitment from employees.
