Hizb al-Saifī (The Sword Litany) is a powerful and time-honoured supplication (attributed to Sayyiduna Ali) transmitted among the people of the spiritual path as a means of divine protection, steadfastness, and reliance upon Allah in times of fear, oppression, or trial. Rooted in Qur’anic language, exaltation of divine attributes, repentance, and complete entrustment, it affirms Allah alone as the true Protector, Defender, and Overpowering Lord.
This litany is not a call to aggression, but a prayer of refuge-seeking the repelling of harm, the neutralization of injustice, and the strengthening of the heart through tawḥīd and remembrance. When recited with sincerity, sound belief, and proper adab, Hizb al-Saifī is regarded as a spiritual armour that cultivates courage, humility, and certainty, while anchoring the servant firmly in submission to Allah’s will.
