Child of the Goddess: The Other Side of Darkness - Annex A

Baken Juul never questions his fate as a shepherd in Dundarin until he meets Niin, a captured ghost bear who he believes is the embodiment of the goddess Eeno. When she is sold to a stranger and taken away, Baken decides to follow Niin wherever she may go. He faces many perils and setbacks on his journey, and makes decisions Eeno would weep over. Beaten half to death one evening, Baken is rescued by members of the Children of the Goddess, an ancient cult who were supposed to be dying out. Now, the cult is growing, fueled by the Prophecy of the Restorer, and the Children want Baken to become one of them.
