--PART 3 investigates the implications of undermining academic freedom, with insight from experts such as Sharon D. Wright Austin, one of the professors barred by the University of Florida from testifying against a restrictive voting rights law and a plaintiff in the main legal case against Ron DeSantis’s ＂Stop WOKE Act.＂

Valerie C. Johnson is Associate Professor of Political Science, a Presidential Diversity Fellow, and an Endowed Professor of Urban Diplomacy at the Grace School of Applied Diplomacy at DePaul University in Chicago.

Jennifer Ruth is Associate Dean in the College of the Arts and Professor in the School of Film at Portland State University. She writes about academic freedom and higher education in publications such as The New Republic, Truthout, Academe, Chronicle of Higher Education, Inside Higher Ed, and Ms. She serves on the American Association of University Professors (AAUP) Committee.

Ellen Schrecker is an American historian and author who taught at Harvard, and at NYU and Princeton, before ending up at Yeshiva University from which she retired as a full professor in 2013. She is the author of The Lost Promise (University of Chicago Press, 2021).
