Education That Matters: Teachers, Critical Pedagogy and Development Education at Local and Global Level

Drawing on the work of the Ubuntu Network project, this resource for pre- and in-service teachers and educators outlines a critical pedagogy approach for making development education part of the K-12 curriculum. Development education is defined here as participatory education on local and global development issues and related issues such as sustainability, environmental studies, and citizenship education. The book begins with a rationale for development education, then describes ideas for place-based learning, exploring development education through the visual arts, and information communication technology and development education.
