Volume I

Autumn 2023 and Barbara Carron, a jaded successful crime writer decides to take time out from her best-selling crime thriller books. She leaves New York and travels to the Scottish Island of Rùm to research a new genre, a book about love and romance. The experience changes her life when she falls under the spell of the Spirit of Askival.

Volume II

Set in the summer of 1977, Mathew Darrow is the sole survivor of a plane crash in America that killed his wife and left him blind. Released from hospital, he travels with his guide dog to the remote Island of Rùm on the west coast of Scotland, where he plans to reunite his lost wife’s spiritual ashes, with her Scottish ancestors.
