When FBI Consultant Tony Wagner and his wife Kelly arrive in North Dakota to help her parents fight a flood, he never expects to become involved in a murder investigation. But one of the volunteers working to protect the farm discovers a leg in the sand trucked in for the job. It proves to be the body of Liz Robinson, missing since October. Local authorities had found little evidence and a surplus of suspects. Massive volunteer searches yielded nothing. With no body or proof of foul play, the case had stalled. Since Robinson disappeared from a North Dakota night spot and the sand containing her body came from Minnesota, the case becomes the jurisdiction of Fargo's FBI resident agency. Due to a heavy case load, agent Allen Green asks Tony to assist with the investigation. They begin by wading through transcripts of the interviews local authorities had conducted. The investigation takes them from Minnesota to the oil fields of western North Dakota. As the Red River crests, Tony and Agent Green trim the list of likely murderers. When they begin applying pressure to the remaining suspects, the murderer sets his sights on Kelly. On Facebook, Like Tony Wagner Mysteries & Author Paula F. Winskye.
