The Wordmaster

History professor and former FBI profiler Carolyn Masters moved to the moon to escape her past. It was supposed to be a new start teaching at Armstrong University in famous Armstrong City, a small town built underground on the moon. But she isn't there long before her colleague and Lunar Independence advocate is murdered. Now, she, along with Michael Cheravik, former Dallas homicide detective, must solve the mystery, save the earth from terrorists, and maybe exorcise the demons from their own pasts. 

This book blends science fiction with a cozy mystery. Cozy mysteries have often been set in unusual places such as ancient times or medieval monasteries. This mystery takes place in the world of a lunar colony at the end of the 21st Century. It is based on a hard science fiction approach which extrapolates from known scientific principles and technologies into the future. The small town is based on solid principles of space habitat science. Meanwhile the mystery takes on a classic cozy mystery feel with a woman being pressed back into service as a sleuth after leaving that world behind. Filled with eccentric and believable characters, the story features the best of both genres of science fiction and cozy mysteries. Mystery fans will love the investigation and science fiction fans will be fascinated by the very believable world of the future.
