Brian K. Crawford was born in Ohio in 1947. He spent four years as a hippie, two on a ship in the North Atlantic and another two living in the Polynesian kingdom of Tonga and navigating the Australian nuclear protest yacht Warana from Tonga to Australia. He has written two novels, many short stories, and a series of memoirs of his adventures. He lives now in Marin County, California, where he continues to sail and hike and is an open space activist.
