For her eighteenth birthday, Kim. Mills H. had planned for weeks to skip school and drive her 1967 Mustang to the beach. She had a paper due that same day, so she hastily wrote it in spite of serious writer’s block and had a friend turn it in for her. She came home with a sunburn and went to the next class to find she’d earned a perfect grade.
So although Kim was tempted to find a ghostwriter for Warrior Brave Protector, her family and friends advised her to tell the story in her own words, and when she recalled her high school confidence, she decided to write it herself. While writing, she found her voice again and recounted every last detail from the heart.
