This book, among others, seeks to provide an account of Ghana’s membership of the United Nations Board of Auditors for 24 years. As the last of the five Directors of External Audit/Ghana, I deem it necessary to put together this account so that the future generations will know the role Ghana played in providing external audit services to the United Nations as a member of the Board of Auditors and its achievements on the international arena. Just as we have found strength and encouragement from the work of our predecessors, so will posterity look at our work and values, for inspiration to chart their own course in life. To achieve the full purpose, I have also included some of my personal experiences during my audit career in the latter chapters of this book. I am a chartered Accountant. I joined the Ghana Audit Service in 1974 and held key positions with both national and international organizations including the Chief Internal Auditor of the Ghana National Procurement Agency, an organization that imports goods in bulk for the Government. I was the Head of External Audit Offices at the Ghana Internal Revenue Service and the Ghana Customs Excise and Preventive Service. Two revenue-generating organizations of the Ghana Government. In 1996, l was appointed the Director of External Audit at the United Nations Board of Auditors, New York, the position I held for 4 years. I worked with the United Nations Department of Peacekeeping Operations as Chief Operational Review Officer. A position I held until my retirement on 31 December 2015.
