Presents a collection of 29 articles originally published in the mid-1980s and 1990s covering the broad range of approaches and themes that characterize Israeli sociology in the fields of language and communication. Herzog and Ben-Rafael (both sociology, Tel-Aviv U.) provide an introduction. Subsequent contributions are organized into sections centered around language and communication in daily life, in a pluralistic society, during elections, and in the shadow of the Arab-Israeli conflict.
