When a set of prototype microchips must be recovered, it's up to the Valkyries to break into Saxon Communications and steal them. Can Krystal, Mara, and Lily use their transformations to get in, beat the high-tech security systems, and make it out?
Excerpt:
"If I didn't know better, I'd swear she talks Carla into taking jobs that give her the least amount of work," Lily grumbled as she entered the closed restroom. The nanites in her system, sensing she and Krystal were in close proximity, stopped transmitting their communications to each other.
Krystal shrugged. "Look at it this way. We get to do the exciting stuff. She's probably bored." She removed the dull cap from her head, letting her golden hair cascade over her shoulders.
"Bored?" Lily rolled her eyes. "She's probably drinking and playing with her phone."
"Hey! I can still hear you!" Mara snapped.
"And? Are you denying it?" When Mara didn't reply, Lily smirked. "That's what I thought."
"Ahem," Krystal said pointedly. "We have a job to do, ladies." She unzipped the janitor's outfit and slid it down her frame, stepping out of it and her shoes when it reached the floor. She was left in a t-shirt, shorts, and socks. "Are you ready? Did you get the data we needed?" she asked Lily.
The redhead nodded at her. "I was able to crack some of their encryption. The security zones we're interested in are forty-one and forty-two. I also found out that the prototype is being stored in a hidden safe in Saxon's office." She frowned. "Nothing that might tell us the code, though. But I did recover something from his IT people that gave me his computer password."
"Well, if we can't find anything on his computer, I guess you'll just have to crack the safe." Krystal raised her left wrist up, bringing what looked like a watch next to her mouth. She pressed a button on the side and spoke into it. "Okay. Phase shift activate: Cleary." She felt the faint tingles in her skin that indicated the nanites were working their magic. She held one hand up in front of her face, watching it carefully. After several seconds, the pastel blue of her nail polish appeared to dull in color as the skin around it seemed to grow paler. Soon enough, she could faintly see right through her outstretched hand. She stared, fascinated, as her body gradually faded from view. She stepped quickly over to the large mirror on the wall, meeting her own gaze. She was just barely able to see the wall behind her through the translucent image of her head.
Lily scoffed. "Don't you ever get tired of looking at yourself?" She unzipped her purse and set it down on the bathroom floor.
"It never stops being cool to watch," Krystal replied, still looking at her vanishing reflection. She always thought of the stereotypical ghost in horror movies, though the image was always spoiled by her clothes staying opaque.
"That's what you say, but I'm pretty sure you're just a narcissist," Lily teased.
"Oh, whatever," Krystal said, staring flatly at Lily's image in the mirror. "Don't pretend for one second that you don't, ah, 'enjoy' what happens to you. I've heard those rumors about you taking your device home and experimenting with Tom."
"I have no idea what you're talking about," Lily answered hastily, but her cheeks were flushing.
"Heh. I'll bet you don't." Krystal turned back to her own reflection, catching one last fleeting glimpse of a woman-shaped outline before she disappeared completely. Turning to Lily, she struck a pose. "Well, how do I look?" she asked playfully.
