Cameroon’s forestry sector plays a very important role in the national economy, providing a range of economic, social and environmental functions. In order to manage this sector sustainably and involve indigenous populations, a balance must be found between development, poverty reduction and sustainable management of forest ecosystems. Cameroon’s forestry law n 94/01 of 1994, the result of the implementation of recommendations from the Rio de Janeiro summit, provides for the involvement of Peasant Forest Committees (CPF).
