什麼是接納？友情有多重要？

　　這個故事是取材自作者之一約旦皇后拉尼雅．阿卜杜拉的童年往事。她希望藉由自己小時候親身的故事，讓孩子們了解──開放的心胸和樂於分享的心，會讓我們的人生更為美好。

　　莉莉和薩爾瑪是最要好的朋友。她們興趣相投，兩個人常常一起跳繩、畫畫、盪鞦韆，也總是一塊兒吃午餐。不過，她們午餐吃的東西並不相同──莉莉每天午餐吃的是爸爸用心為她準備的花生醬果醬三明治，薩爾瑪吃的是媽媽仔仔細細為她準備的鷹嘴豆泥口袋餅。

　　對好朋友來說，這點差別會有什麼問題呢？事實證明，這樣的差異其實很大，還燃起一起戰爭。

　　莉莉和薩爾瑪一直覺得對方吃的午餐很噁心，但是她們從來沒有說出口。終於有一天，莉莉再也忍不住對薩爾瑪說：「妳的口袋餅看起來有點噁心哪！」薩爾瑪想到那是媽媽細心為她準備的，不覺氣憤的反擊回去：「……妳的三明治……不僅看起來噁心，聞起來也糟透了！」兩人就這樣一來一往的互相批評、爭執起來。更糟的是，這場兩人之爭還引起學校餐廳裡學生們之間的一場食物大戰。

　　莉莉和薩爾瑪能夠把她們之間的差別擱在一邊，繼續做好朋友嗎？還是三明治和口袋餅的不同會橫亙在她們之間，破壞她們的友誼呢？

　　在故事的最後，薩爾瑪和莉莉終於體會出包容和了解的真義。如果友情不能接納彼此之間的差異，那麼就算是最最微不足道的小事也可能會傷害彼此之間的友誼。
