Officer Amy Coates is up for a promotion to detective.  When she was assigned to a seemingly innocuous ‘breaking and entering’ case, she didn’t realize the dangerous, yet all-encompassing path, she would be lead on. 

​At first glance, the man she will come to know as Shaun Beverly, looked like a simple man with a simple home invasion problem.  It’s nothing new or extraordinary in her area of Philadelphia.  That is, until the addition of a strange book that showed up in Shaun’s mailbox; that’s when things took a treacherous turn, not only for Shaun, but for the fledgling detective as well.

Shaun’s ordeal quickly escalates to several horrendous attacks on his body and ultimately his mind by an unknown person that could only be called The Figure.  With each occurrence, the toll it takes on Shaun grows immensely.  Detective Coates stays by Shaun’s side after each incident, when finally, she herself is pulled into the torture.  Through it all, the detective and her victim grow as close as two people can grow, they find love in an unlikely situation.
