After 47 years as a psychologist (educational/school) working with children of all ages, adolescents, young adults, older adults, parents, teachers, educational administrators, and all forms of professionals delivering their brand of services, I have learned immeasurable volumes (well, let’s hope so!!). Prime in all those volumes is the fact that every one of us is "special" and has "special needs" - in all definitions of those words separately and as a phrase. And, we all benefit from "accommodations," "interventions," "compensatory methods and tools,", etc., to assist our struggles and learning to the best of our abilities - again in all meanings of that word. And, paramount: it doesn’t matter what we look like on the outside; it matters the quality and similarities on the inside: we are all God’s creatures. Family, friends, mentors, etc., are all helpful to all of us in our struggles and with our "special needs," helping us progress and develop to be our best. Thank God for all of them... Nearing the end of my professional career, I found my brain flooded with myriads and myriads (redundant?!) of memories, resulting in ideas, verbiage, narratives, stories, and even dialogues which just "pop into my brain." With all that running around up there, it seemed natural to combine that all with my God-given creative bent (Thank you Lord!), leading me to this form of expression... children’s picture books of beauty and beautiful "characters" who learn and teach coping and life lessons to each other and themselves! After all... "That’s what friends do!" The "I am Special..." series is the start. With all those ideas, it may not be the end. But initially there will be several "Books" in this series, based on above ideas. Still, there seems to be no end to the flow of ideas... so, who knows where they all will take me?! Here’s hoping you enjoy and love them all! Blessings to you all... Barbara Jean Drill
