Prof. Feng ZHAO has completed his PhD degree from Shanghai Ocean University. He is currently working as research professor at East China sea Fisheries Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences (CAFS), and has had 20 years’ experience in fisheries ecology and conservation research. He is Vice President of the East China Sea Fisheries Research Institute, CAFS, and the Director General of the Key Laboratory of East China Sea Fishery Resources Exploitation, Ministry of Agriculture, China. He is also the Vice President of the Chinese Society of Fisheries Resources and Environment. He has published over 100 peer-reviewed papers in various national and international journals.
Prof. Ping ZHUANG received his Doctor of Science degree from the Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He is currently a senior research professor of the East China Sea Fisheries Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences. Since early 1980s, he has been engaging in the research of the conservation biology and aquaculture of sturgeons, and has won the second prize in the China’s National Highest Science and Technology Award for his research achievements on sturgeons. He is a member of the IUCN’s Species Committee and the Sturgeon Expert Group. At present, he is leading China’s national key research program on fisheries resources conservation and habitat restoration. He used to be the director general of the East China Sea Fisheries Research Institute, CAFS. Currently,he is the director of the Engineering and Technology Research Center for Fisheries Resources Enhancement and Ecological Restoration of the Yangtze River Estuary. He also serves as vice-president of the China Fish Society, vice-chairman of the Scientific Committee for Endangered Animal and Plant Species of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China, and vice-chairman of the Scientific Committee for the Yangtze River Aquatic Organisms of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China.
Prof. Tao Zhang has completed his bachelor’s degree of agriculture form College of Fisheries of Huazhong Agricultural University, China. He is currently working as research fellow at the East China Sea Fisheries Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Fisheries Sciences, where he has more than 20 years of scientific research experience. He is engaged in research activities related to estuarine fishery ecology, conservation and utilization of estuarine fishery resources and aquaculture. He is a member of the Chinese Ichthyological Scoiety, and the Specialized Committee on fishpassage Facilities of China National Committee on Large Dams. In addition to his research activities, he is a master’s tutor at Shanghai Ocean University and Dalian Ocean University. He is well experienced in research on the conservation biology and applied technology of Chinese sturgeon in the Yangtze River Estuary. His relevant research has revealed the population dynamics, migration distribution and its ecological effects of Chinese sturgeon in the Yangtze River Estuary, and elucidated the habitat requirements and adaptive mechanisms of Chinese sturgeon in the Yangtze River Estuary, and proposed conservation countermeasures.
