Due to the various developments that have taken place in recent years in the business world, the economic scenario has become more competitive for companies. Information technology (IT) has been a strong ally in the decision-making process of organisational executives and its advances have allowed decision support systems, such as Business Intelligence (BI), to become indispensable solutions. The co-operatives of the Brazilian Credit Union System (Sicoob) are part of this challenging scenario. In order to be competitive in the market, these co-operatives need an edge as a means of winning new members and retaining the loyalty of existing ones. To this end, Sicoob has invested in implementing a BI project in order to boost the business of its co-operatives. This book covers the entire process of implementing the BI project at Sicoob and assesses the importance of the data analytics environment (BI) according to the perception of a group of professionals from the cooperatives that have benefited from the project’s results.
