Heather Ames knew she was a writer from the time she won first prize in a high school novel contest. She continued to hone her craft after graduation, completing a historical saga while traveling around Europe and, in the first years of her marriage to a serviceman in the USAF, the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic States. Their family grew to include two children, and her husband became a civilian airlines employee in Houston, Texas. Heather put her writing on hold for a college education. She earned a degree and began working in the healthcare industry, which enabled her to fulfill a dream of taking writing classes. She joined a critique group and Romance Writers of America, volunteering to coordinate local conferences. When her husband’s profession moved the family again, this time to Arizona, she continued to volunteer as a board member for the newly-formed Northern Arizona RWA chapter and ran for regional advisor. But she never found her writing niche in the romance industry, despite being agented and becoming a Golden Heart Finalist with an edgy romantic mystery/suspense set in Spain. After a divorce and another move, this time to Boston, she branched out into TV and video production, writing, producing, directing and editing two documentaries, one of which was nominated for an award. Four years later, her daughter convinced her to move to Los Angeles to escape the snow. There, Heather achieved small press publication with a romance set in North Carolina and a romantic suspense set in Arizona before accepting a job in Portland, Oregon, where she launched the Indelible series, set in Miami, Florida. The extensive travel has reaped benefits in providing interesting and varied backdrops for her books, and Heather looks forward with great anticipation to using more of these settings in the future, as she has recently committed to a full-time writing career. Plans include more books in the Indelible series as well as stand-alone psychological suspenses, romances, and the launch of two more mystery/suspense series.
