作者簡介
Meet the Author
I was born in the town of Houlton, in the state of Maine(USA), where I spent a lot of time fishing, playing basketball and baseball, and generally having a good time. I moved to Germany with my German wife many years ago, where I live in Lingen, a lively city in Emsland. When I was an English teacher I started writing plays for my classes. Every year, at the end of the school year, I wrote one. That’s how I began my career as a writer.
About ten years ago, I wrote my first reader. In 2008 one of my stories won a prize. The story is called ‘Horror Trip on the Pecos River’. It was named reader of the year by an international jury!
I get my ideas for stories from the words of songs, from TV programmes, from reading ( I read a lot of detective stories), and from the world around me.
When I begin my stories I have no idea how they will end. I follow them where they take me. My only ‘method’ is to listen to my characters and try to understand what they are going to do next.
I originally wrote ‘Princess on the Run!’ as a play for my students. Like all my plays, it had enough parts fro everyone in the class. The students enjoyed performing it, especially the ballroom scenes. Later, I changed it into the story form it now has.
