Ken Horlor is a writer and thinker. His first novel, "Basketball Obsession," is about a high school basketball team and its coach. Released in 2015, it is principally aimed at the Young Adult reader. His second novel, "The Crushing Son," is set on the Gold Coast, Australia and is about rival families within the construction industry. Born in Nelson, New Zealand in 1958, Horlor was educated at Nelson College (1970-76), and graduated from the University of Canterbury with a BA, and Christchurch Teachers’ College with a Diploma of Teaching. He taught economics and coached basketball in NZ high schools in both the North and South Islands. In 1990 he started a contract quarrying and construction equipment rental, sales and service business and the business soon had international operations. In 2018, Horlor announced he is working on a science fiction novel, to be published later that year.
