Ronald Chan is affiliated with the Agency for Science, Technology and Research, and is currently a postdoctoral associate at the University of Colorado Boulder working on simulations of electrically charged fluids and plasmas for space propulsion and materials processing. He received his BS in Engineering with a minor in Energy Studies from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2014, and his MS and PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University in 2017 and 2020, respectively, focusing on bubble breakup in oceanic breaking waves. His research interests are in developing physics-based models to accelerate scientific computing of large-scale systems, with an eye towards efficient design cycles for next-generation manufacturing, propulsion and clean energy technologies, as well as a fundamental understanding of climate, weather and maritime systems.
