This work is a PPP supporter’s recollections of President Dr. Dawda Kairaba Jawara, Gambia’s political father and icon of human rights and Democracy. Here is Alhaji Sir Dr. Dawda Kairaba Jawara’s path to braking the shackles of colonialism Gambians. Born 16th May 1924 of farming parents at Barajali village in the McCarthy Island Division, Gambia. He attend Mohammedan Primary school and Methodist Boys High School before and had later attended Achimota College in Ghana; where he earned a bachelors in science degree and proceeded to the University of Glasgow, in Scotland, studied for a degree in Veterinary surgery. On returning to the Gambia he was appointed as Principal Veterinary Officer. He served for few years before being nominated to head the new provincial dream party; the Protectorate Peoples Party, later renamed Peoples Progressive Party (PPP). His governance though peaceful and popular, faced an attempted primitive upheaval route of change in the Kukoyi Samba Sanyang and disgruntle Field Force men’s unlawful attempt to overthrow the PPP government in 1981. The Senegalese Forces twatted this darkness which later gave birth to a very short leaved Senegalo-Gambia Confederation. It dissolved because of disagreement between President Sir Dr. Dawda Kairaba Jawara and President Abdou Joof of Senegal. I write to raise funds for building our village hospital at Njawara.
