The book ＂L’ÉLEVAGE EN ÉTANG DE Protopterus dolloï BOULENGER, 1900. PREMIER ESSAI À KIKWIT, EN R.D. CONGO＂ explores an innovative aquaculture initiative in a context rich in biodiversity, but facing socio-economic challenges. Protopterus dolloï, a freshwater fish known for its resilience and unique characteristics, is at the heart of this study, and the author presents a rigorous methodology for rearing this species, emphasizing the importance of adapting to local conditions. In Kikwit, specific techniques are implemented to maximize fish growth and health, while respecting the surrounding ecosystem.This first essay highlights not only the technical aspects of farming, but also the potential socio-economic benefits for the local community. By fostering a sustainable food source, this project could contribute to improving food security and promoting sustainable aquatic resource management practices.In short, this book is a valuable contribution to knowledge of aquaculture in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
