This book displays the research and design work of master of architecture students in a studio taught by Brazilian developers Rafael ad Ricardo Birmann, and Sunil Bald of the Yale faculty. The theme was the premise of collective city-making in a context fraught with urban tensions. The assignment was for students to etch out their visions for a brand new city on a large empty site torn between the stark utopian ambitions of Brasília and the sprawling, unplanned suburban realities of its satellite towns. After interviews with the instructors, the book covers studio structure, observations, student projects, and retrospectives. Annotation ©2018 Ringgold, Inc., Portland, OR (protoview.com)
