logic for kids: all aboard the therefore train!

Logic for Kids is intended to help parents take charge of the intellectual development of their children in a critical area: the acquisition of skills related to logical reasoning. Many other books, including math and science books, fail to treat logic as a subject in its own right, provide no special instruction, and expect students to figure out logic on their own. Without the corrective measures explained in this book, students will be ill-prepared to cope with increasing intellectual demands as they progress from grade to grade. These demands will become greater and more varied in college and once they embark on a professional career. Getting started in logic at the earliest opportunity is the answer.

Arnold Cusmariu holds a PhD in philosophy from Brown University, Providence, Rhode Island. He has taught logic and has published original work in logic and on a variety of philosophical issues. His publications are available at www.academia.edu. He entered on duty with the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) in 1986 and retired in 2010, having served in a variety of assignments including analyst, analytic methodologist, and intelligence analysis instructor. He was awarded the Career Commendation Medal upon retirement from CIA. One of his logic monographs entitled ＂Improving Argumentation in Intelligence: A Guide to Formal Review＂ was published in Studies in Intelligence and used in analytic tradecraft training at CIA. Dr Cusmariu began making sculpture in 1985, inspired by viewing a Brâncuşi sculpture at the Hirshhorn Museum in Washington DC. He obtained stone-carving training at the Torpedo Factory in Alexandria, Virginia, and has participated in Washington DC-area exhibits. In 2002, his sculptures were displayed at the CIA as part of an employee art show. Training in analytic philosophy proved critical to his artistic development. Sculptures in a series titled Counterpoint, currently at #23, exemplify Plato’s beautiful metaphor of interweaving forms. His work took a new turn in 2021 when he realized that mereological multiplicity could also be captured by constructions of ready-made materials, significantly expanding the aesthetic content of an art form invented by Marcel Duchamp a century ago.
