This warm-hearted, lively, theatrical biography starts in Birmingham UK in 1917, with the characters growing up as part of a hardworking and creative family. It moves swiftly to the formation of their unique, thrilling acrobatic dance act and years spent on tour performing in 1930s to 1950s variety shows, experiencing wonderful and loathsome landladies, success, hardship, war, tragedy and love, displaying strong courage and determination along the way.

The author, Annette-Frances B, lived and breathed theatre as a child, eagerly absorbing weird and wonderful accounts of daring adagio dancers, singers, magicians, snake charmers, spectacular costumes, dazzling scenery and... well, the list is endless. These memories were shared with her by her father, Louis, her aunts and her uncle who formed Les Cygne Four, an acrobatic dance act, and by her mother, Vera, a soprano singer. She no longer has those loving, charismatic characters, but she still has the tales and is happy to share them with you - her readers - to entertain, amuse and inspire.
