King County chief medical examiner Cassandra MacLean believed the dead always told a hell of a story.  After relocating home to the Pacific Northwest following a fascinating stint in the New York City coroner's office, all she wanted was some peace and quiet and to help tell the tales of the dead in Seattle, one body at a time.

Detective Lucas Sullivan, highly respected in the Seattle police department, liked to solve cases by the book. With a background in the military and a no-nonsense attitude formed from growing up in the rough streets of Queens, he possessed an uncanny ability to ferret out the truth, even from the most uncooperative of suspects.

The body of a young woman from a prominent Seattle family was found washed up in the Puget Sound.  Missing for over six months, the remains showed definite signs of force and trauma - this was no accident.  Can Cassandra and Lucas overcome their differences (and a disastrous first encounter) to solve the case and catch a murderer?  Only time will tell.
