Teacher training is a crucial element in guaranteeing quality education and student success. In the context of the Great Lakes countries, characterized by major socio-economic and political challenges, it is essential to rethink secondary school teacher training strategies in order to better prepare them for their mission. This doctoral thesis by Professor BAPOLISI BAHUGA Paulin, was for me a thought-provoking perspective. This research aims to identify and analyze the didactic training and self-training strategies implemented by future secondary school teachers in the Great Lakes countries.Overall, the thesis is a high-quality work that makes an original contribution to the field of research. It is well written, rigorous and relevant. The author has done an excellent job and it is clear that he has invested a great deal in his research. To this end, I urge that if, and only if, the strategies advocated by the author are put into practice, his problem will find its remedy, for one does not improvise oneself to be an educator, but one becomes one through training and information.
