The collection includes articles by scholars from the Mordovian State Pedagogical Institute named after M. E. Evsevyev (Russian Federation, Saransk) - Alexander Martynchenko, Timofey Nadkin, and Svetlana Eremina. They provide an overview of the historiography of the ’religious renaissance’ process, an analysis of the relationship between the authorities and the Russian Orthodox Church during the Soviet era, an examination of the problems of the organisational and cultural revival of the Russian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate, and an analysis of the main trends in the development of Islam in the late 20th and early 21st centuries, using the example of individual regions of the Middle Volga region of Russia.
