Social observations reveal an increase in dowry in sub-Saharan African communities, particularly in Cameroon, even in the so-called Christian sphere. This goes against the grain of the communities’ historical traditions and biblical data on the subject of dowry. This state of affairs is not without consequences for the institution of marriage.
