This new book provides a detailed overview of some of the fundamental aspects of nanocarbons and their allotropic forms, their preparation techniques, and their applications in several fields of interest. New forms of carbon have the potential to revolutionize many aspects of research, including drug delivery, catalysis, energy conversion and storage, high-strength physics, structural engineering, and more. This volume covers the recent literature on carbon with emphasis on the emerging carbon-based materials developed to date, studies of their properties, and possible prototypes fabricated for practical applications. It covers myriad carbon-based nanomaterials of distinctive features and their application in various fields.

Aneeya Kumar Samantara, PhD, is a National Postdoctorate Fellow at the National Institute of Science Education and Research, Odisha, India. Dr. Samantara’s research interests include the synthesis of metal chalcogenides and graphene composites for energy storage/conversion applications and designing of electrochemical sensors for detection of different bioanalytes. To his credit, he has authored over 30 peer-reviewed papers published in international journals, as well as 13 books and six book chapters. He has been awarded for his outstanding research activity at many national and international forums. Dr. Samantara earned his PhD in Chemistry at the CSIR-Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology, Odisha, India. Before joining the PhD program, he completed a Master of Science in Advanced Organic Chemistry from Ravenshaw University, India, and Master of Philosophy (MPhil) from Utkal University, India.

Satyajit Ratha, PhD, has pursued his PhD at the Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar, India. Prior to joining IIT Bhubaneswar, he received his Bachelor of Science with first-class honors from Utkal University and his Master of Science from Ravenshaw University, India. His research interests include two-dimensional semiconductors, nanostructure synthesis applications, energy storage devices, and supercapacitors. He has authored and co-authored over 28 peer-reviewed papers published in international journals, eight books, and one book chapter.
