Photography collected by the author is organized by region in order to show areas in China that are not as well publicized as the big city areas that make the news now and then. The author lived and traveled in China over seven years and carried both an observer’s and a participant’s eye. Interactivity with folks was eased by the author’s study and appreciation of the language and culture in its various forms, while much of what was there was often surprising and profound. A deep enjoyment was felt for the richness of the diversity of Chinese people found through travel, and a goal of this book is to share that view towards a variety of life that is not so commonly visible to an American view.
This book is designed as the first of a set to showcase locations to give a feel for the breadth and diversity that is present in modern China, without a difficult social element.
