I was born in Plymouth Devon in 1949. I didn’t have the happiest of childhoods, Mother was a single parent, my Father left us when I was just a few months old. I found school difficult at times, often I was so tired I lost concentration, and consequently my school work suffered, there were however good times when I excelled as well as failing. My working life followed a similar pattern. I have two beautiful daughters, but my marriage can only be described as a complete failure, eventually leading to divorce and a nervous breakdown. I had a successful career for 30 years with the same company, and I was destined for further promotion when I became ill, too ill to work. I retired from full time employment due to my failing health still not knowing what the cause was. In 2000 I was diagnosed with Myalgic Encephalitis or ME/CFS. Hooray! The answer! It’s thought that I have had it all my life which explains the health roller coaster I’d been on for as long as I could remember, and one I’m still riding today! I’ve been retired since 1999, and now in 2015 I’m 65 years old and I’m a fully paid Member of club OAP. An official old age pensioner. One thing that never left me throughout life was my wacky sense of humour, which helped me through the darkest days and still does. It was my beautiful daughter Sarah’s idea that I should start writing my poems in a book. So here we are Today! TADA!
